About DREDGE

About this game

Pilot your own fishing boat in Dredge from Black Salt Games and Team17.

Exploring the Islands

In Dredge, players captain a fishing trawler to explore a collection of remote islands and uncover their secrets. Collectables, wildlife, and over 125 deep sea creatures await in each new region. Players must complete quests to gain access to strange abilities and research special equipment like upgraded boat capabilities. This helps them reach rare fish and valuable deep-sea curios which can be sold for money and to learn more about the area.

Danger Lurking in the Depths

Dredging the depths reveals someone may be trying to dig up the past, but trusting them may not be enough. Navigating the treacherous waters is difficult during both day and night - sharp rocks, shallow reefs, and thick fog are all threats the player must face as they uncover hidden treasures.

Strengthen Your Mind

Players must strengthen their minds if they are to survive night-time trips out on the water. Utilising gained abilities such as upgrades for boat capabilities will help them reach previously inaccessible locations; each offering new opportunities, inhabitants, stories, collectables and wildlife. The Marrows offer a unique sea exploration experience where players can unravel mysteries while fighting off unseen threats in an unpredictable environment.

Fun open world with plenty to explore. The story keeps things interesting and the fishing mini-games don't get boring. The tech-tree and ability unlocks keep the game feeling fresh (unlike your fish if you don't sell them fast enough!)

Dredge is a very good game for those looking for a lovecraftian inspired story mixed up in a catch'em'all fishing style game with a twist. I'm not usually a fan of games that involve some repetition to gather items and the like, but this one kept my interest. There's lots to explore, a great atmosphere in game, and interesting characters and side quests. It's not an overly long game, but if you take your time and explore, you can still get good value out of it. One word of warning, there are hooded figures that are on timed quests that trigger as soon as you speak to them. My recommendation is not to interact with any of them until you are well advanced in the game.

A fun game, relatively long, but no lasting play value unless you enjoy sailing around for no reason and the fishing minigames. Take's like ~10 hours max to finish/get most everything. Base price is a bit much for such a short game with not much replay/continued play value.

I really enjoyed this game and find it well worth the price tag. Only issue, if I’d even call it that, I have with the game is that it’s not really replay-able for me… I want more because I enjoyed it so much.

Satisfying gameplay fishing loop

magicalmichael
Dredge is a great time. It’s somehow simultaneously serene and stressful. The gameplay loop is very satisfying- catch fish, sell fish to upgrade your ship, travel to further location, repeat. Beware of traveling at night though, where visibility is limited and your panic increases, but with that comes more valuable and rare fish. Within all this is a spooky story with mysterious characters. It’s a joy to look at and to play.

Excellent exploration with a lovecraftian vibe. You have to manage your time well and sometimes take a risk to venture into the dark seas. If you like fishing games with inventory management, this is the one to play.

Dreadge is probably my favourite game this year! It falls into the Subnautica nieche for me, horror vibes, weird creatures, the endless ocean with all its mysteries, a bit of a story and a bit of grind. As a huge fan of ocean themes games i knew i HAD to play dredge as soon as saw its announcement. The graphics are great, the soundtrack is amazing and just adds a little edge of something unsettling to the otherwise harmless conversations and calm boatrides. Soon though, the game will pick up and you will realise that there is something going on. Just driving around, talking to people, catching weird fish, stumbling across a bit of lore was so much fun that i kinda wish that there was more. I was very slow with following the story and i spent a good bit of time completing the encyclopedia but the story can be finished in about 10 hours i guess, the DLC in another 30-60 minutes. By no means to I want to say that there is too little content, it's just so good that i never wanted it to end. Even the gind for the last mutated fish variations was ejoyable and every now and again i discovered something new in corners that i had been to before numerous times. If you like atmospheric games, the ocean, Lovecraft or fishing, give Dredge a try :)
