About DREDGE

About this game

Pilot your own fishing boat in Dredge from Black Salt Games and Team17.

Exploring the Islands

In Dredge, players captain a fishing trawler to explore a collection of remote islands and uncover their secrets. Collectables, wildlife, and over 125 deep sea creatures await in each new region. Players must complete quests to gain access to strange abilities and research special equipment like upgraded boat capabilities. This helps them reach rare fish and valuable deep-sea curios which can be sold for money and to learn more about the area.

Danger Lurking in the Depths

Dredging the depths reveals someone may be trying to dig up the past, but trusting them may not be enough. Navigating the treacherous waters is difficult during both day and night - sharp rocks, shallow reefs, and thick fog are all threats the player must face as they uncover hidden treasures.

Strengthen Your Mind

Players must strengthen their minds if they are to survive night-time trips out on the water. Utilising gained abilities such as upgrades for boat capabilities will help them reach previously inaccessible locations; each offering new opportunities, inhabitants, stories, collectables and wildlife. The Marrows offer a unique sea exploration experience where players can unravel mysteries while fighting off unseen threats in an unpredictable environment.

"It’s indicative of just how important a game’s moment-to-moment hooks are that even with its shortcomings, Dredge is by and large an enjoyable experience."

Very interesting game that kinda came out of nowhere. Also pretty quick to beat. I played the whole thing across one weekend at my in-laws on my steam deck. Maybe 10-15 hours or so.

Very neat little game not entirely what I was expecting but I still had lots of fun. The gameplay loop of exploring, catching fish dredging up items is very nice and can be chill. But there is also a lot under the surface in terms of the depth of the world and characters. The overall story is very hands off for the most part you mainly get bits and pieces as you explore that contribute to a greater whole. My only real complaint is that the main part of the game lasted for about 5 hours. Still have side content to do which has taken at least myself an additional 4 hours. But either way the game is great and definitely worth it.

The most relaxing lovecraftian game you will ever play. A lite fishing simulator with a sprinkling of treasure hunting, exploration, levelling up and set collection (got to catch them all). I only rated this 4 stars because a few of the quests are timed, without warning, so you can fail to complete everything through no fault of your own. The ending(s) seem a little rushed, hopefully a DLC will expand upon this in the future. I really enjoyed my time with this game but once i'd played it through i didnt feel like i needed to replay it again. I could be tempted back by new content if some becomes available.

Pretty fun sandbox fishing game with horror/action elements. Quest system, different ports (although everything has the same sale/purchase price)a good variety of fish (and their mutant variants) and a day/night system that's pretty standard; night comes, fog rolls in, enemies start spawning. Stay in the dark too long and your sanity goes down, causing hallucinations that can attack you. Nice mixture of chill daytime fishing and more intense night cycles. Story is fairly standard so far for cosmic horror.

If you're a Cthulhu fan, this is actually more on the relaxing side of things. You still get that sense of dread and fear of the deep, but it's just fishing at the end of the day. It is not a long game either. It's easy to play in short bursts but binging the whole game in one go is definitely possible. Overall, I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it.
