About DREDGE

About this game

Pilot your own fishing boat in Dredge from Black Salt Games and Team17.

Exploring the Islands

In Dredge, players captain a fishing trawler to explore a collection of remote islands and uncover their secrets. Collectables, wildlife, and over 125 deep sea creatures await in each new region. Players must complete quests to gain access to strange abilities and research special equipment like upgraded boat capabilities. This helps them reach rare fish and valuable deep-sea curios which can be sold for money and to learn more about the area.

Danger Lurking in the Depths

Dredging the depths reveals someone may be trying to dig up the past, but trusting them may not be enough. Navigating the treacherous waters is difficult during both day and night - sharp rocks, shallow reefs, and thick fog are all threats the player must face as they uncover hidden treasures.

Strengthen Your Mind

Players must strengthen their minds if they are to survive night-time trips out on the water. Utilising gained abilities such as upgrades for boat capabilities will help them reach previously inaccessible locations; each offering new opportunities, inhabitants, stories, collectables and wildlife. The Marrows offer a unique sea exploration experience where players can unravel mysteries while fighting off unseen threats in an unpredictable environment.

Dreadge is probably my favourite game this year! It falls into the Subnautica nieche for me, horror vibes, weird creatures, the endless ocean with all its mysteries, a bit of a story and a bit of grind. As a huge fan of ocean themes games i knew i HAD to play dredge as soon as saw its announcement. The graphics are great, the soundtrack is amazing and just adds a little edge of something unsettling to the otherwise harmless conversations and calm boatrides. Soon though, the game will pick up and you will realise that there is something going on. Just driving around, talking to people, catching weird fish, stumbling across a bit of lore was so much fun that i kinda wish that there was more. I was very slow with following the story and i spent a good bit of time completing the encyclopedia but the story can be finished in about 10 hours i guess, the DLC in another 30-60 minutes. By no means to I want to say that there is too little content, it's just so good that i never wanted it to end. Even the gind for the last mutated fish variations was ejoyable and every now and again i discovered something new in corners that i had been to before numerous times. If you like atmospheric games, the ocean, Lovecraft or fishing, give Dredge a try :)

Nothing more scary that a foggy sea at midnight. Dredge is a single player game with beautiful art design, fun and interesting dynamics. The main point of this game is to go out with your ship get some fish and get pay, invest that money back into the ship and be able to explore more and catch bigger fish. You’ll meet good characters and get scare at sea in the middle of the night. Is a great game that leave you with a good feeling.

I really enjoyed it. The art is beautiful and it's great fun to discover all the different species of fish. I wish the NPCs were developed a bit more with more quests and possible interactions, but I have heard there will be a storyline DLC coming later this year, so I will be looking forward to that!

By the time of writing this review, I have played this game for 10 hours. This is a nice exploration game with a living world. While you travel the sea, you can witness little events like seeing whales or a kraken. You sell the fish you catch and use the money and resources you gather from wracks to upgrade your ship. All of this is wrapped in a story with quests that will take you around the main islands of the game. As a twist, you have to manage your sanity. If you stay up too long, you will go mad. Until now, I do enjoy the game very much. Played on the Steam Deck
