Newbie to the Dark Souls games

Wasn't sure I'd enjoy this as I usually go for things with an emphasis on story. I saw a lot of people call it Dark Souls 3 or that the open world was dull and boring. Also have see it praised as being similar to Breath of The Wild which I can see the similarities. I've played about 40-50 hours and while I found it punishing at first I really grew to enjoy the challenge. I'm not a big fan of boss battles which also made me hesitant about this but it's true what they say, when you beat one or figure out his move set it's so satisfying. The world is pretty big and there are a huge variety of enemy types and the difference in setting between locations is a nice way to break it up. I still have a lot left but am loving it so far. Haven't felt this fulfilled exploring an open world since The Witcher 3.

Just putting it out there: it's a soulsborne game. Don't know what that means? Imagine going out on a date with a person you're really into. The date is going well, then, all of a sudden, they grab your eyelids and stretch them down past your chin. There was nothing you did wrong, they aren't mad, they just did it. You are left in a state of shock. The date isnt over yet, they invite you back to their place to let you smash, you do... The deed is done, then they bite your head off... Doesn't matter, still smashed! 10/10 would hook up with again!
