About Persona 5 Royal

About this game

Persona 5 Royal is the ultimate edition of the latest JRPG sequel in the hit spin-off to Shin Megami Tensei! It comes with over 40 items of DLC, as well as optional Japanese voiceover!

You’ll Never See It Coming

Take on the role of high school student-turned-Phantom Thief Joker when he moves to Tokyo only for things to take a turn for the strange. With his new friends and pet cat Morgana to help him, it’s up to them to steal people’s desires and change their hearts. It might be harder than you think since the most powerful people keep their desires hidden deep inside Palaces in the Metaverse.

All-Out Attack

Everywhere in the Metaverse is patrolled by fierce Shadows, which take on monstrous forms to keep you from your goal! Buy items in various shops and upgrade your abilities in the underground Mementos to take on even the toughest of foes. Simple trinkets can become powerful totems, and weapons that are harmless in the real world can do harm to Shadows.

Show Me Your True Form!

Take off your mask and convince Shadows to lend you their power, adding to your strength and abilities. Combine them in the Velvet Room to turn them into new forms and give you an edge in every turn-based encounter. Prove the power of the Phantom Thieves, and change the hearts of Tokyo!

Persona 5, and its expansion Royal, was one of the most critically acclaimed JRPGs of this decade. For fans of turn based combat, it's a must have. Shame it's only on PS4, right? Well, with it coming to all platforms now, it's a mainstay in any good game library and deserves its place as one of the top games released in the last few years.

Really good game! Played the original back when it released and now have played persona 2, 4, and Royale. The persona management mechanics have to be my favorite part of the game, making a perfect team with the options given to you.

A JRPG for anyone. Top notch in gameplay, story, characters, art design and challenge. You can't really go wrong, but be aware, it requires a lot of time (100+ hours) and dedication, especially to master relationships with all the characters.

It's a hella good game. Considering a lot of games ported from consoles get buggy first launch. Not sure if this one is ported since the character models are from the dancing game. Like usual, I had to play exclusives from my console so that experience wasn't fun. If you have somehwhat of a decent PC, you can max it out and get a smooth gameplay experience. I wish big companies would do put love to this game like Atlus

A wonderful experience, of rebellion and friendship, and old combat adapted to a modern world

Story: Persona 5 Royal features a band of youths wanting to rebel against selfish adults, while also bonding and trying to find new trust in the unchanging society. Their ethereal powers will make them test the path to the truth. Each character stands out, be it that they bring a level of comfort and relatability to the player, or tense anger, while others just need time to warm up to you. Granted, not everyone might like it because of its risque content, especially the first chapter. Gameplay: As a turn based JRPG with a rich world, It seems that you may not have many choices at the start, but as you play more and more, the world expands, and so are its choices. You may choose to spend some free time bonding with your acquaintances or friends, spends some free time to improve your social skills, and even get tested on actual topics that may had evaded you in school. However, you can explore worlds that are not seen but influence the minds of people and corrupt hearts. This is where the combat unfolds, as you can battle or negotiate with enemies, and even befriend them, as the combat allows you to use these monsters (Personas) to exploit enemy weakness or fuse them to something greater. Being the Royal edition, it also features DLC that was initially for PS4, but it's also free now, being a great help for starters. Don't fear the difficulty, there are settings for everyone, from those who want a challenge to those that just want the story. Music: Genres that go from acid jazz to rock, perfectly brings the atmosphere together. Whether you relax and talk with your friends, or confront enemies with hype and might, the music makes you feel powerful, stylish, and chill at the right moments. Tuning: While there seems to be plenty of settings, unfortunately some essentials seem to lack, which may improve framerate even more on low end computers. I do wish that some aspects could be toggled like level of NPCs, and the like. Video cutscenes can have lag ton low end devices unless set up to lower resolutions beforehand. More modern PCs should have less issues, as there are still some cases of problems on PCs with good specifications.

Great combat, great animation, perfect UI, bad story.

Pretty good RPG. There are a lot of tutorials this game throws at you that there were some features I didn't even know about until after I finished the game. The combat is not the most intuitive it can be, but it's still a lot of fun. I didn't look up anything and instead discovered all the weaknesses the monsters have on my own and I recommend everyone do the same because it's really fun figuring it out on your own. It took me 100 hours to beat the game but it always felt fresh because I always felt I was getting better at it. The game also has amazing animation done by production IG which looks super professional and movie quality. It's used all over the game and I love it. Also has the best UI I've seen in a video game, ever. It's super stylish, but never gets in the way or is distracting at all, which is important because you will have to navigate a lot of menus. Everything else about the game though, is serviceable but not great. The social links are very formulaic and so is the story (there's a lot of overlap). There are several lines that will make you groan and a lot of anime-isms I personally find very obnoxious, like characters pointing out things that are really obvious or having flashbacks to things that happened 15 minutes earlier. It's not offensively bad, but it did not connect with me at all.
