There's trouble once again on the mean streets of River City, but this time the boys are in over their heads!
In this all-new entry in the legendary beat-'em-up series, hot-blooded heroes Kunio and Riki have been captured, leaving it to their hard-hitting girlfriends, Kyoko and Misako, to serve up some payback.
As you punch and kick your way across town - either solo or with a friend in a local co-op - you'll gain new skills, chow down on power-ups, wield an assortment of weapons, and unleash an arsenal of combos, throws, and special attacks that will leave the bad guys crying for mama - all in outrageous 16-bit style!

Classic beat 'em up modernized!
This game is a glorious mix of TMNT and the classic River City Rampage. Now with voice acting, nice anime/manga storytelling and much better controls. The only thing that I could see as being annoying is the requirement to level up each character separately. This means that if you come back to play a session and you choose someone else, they may not have the moveset you're used to.

I'd had this game in my wishlist for a while and removed it because of some of the negative comments on Steam. But when it came up as a Fanatical bundle choice, I figured, eh, why not?
Man, I am glad I bought it. This is the first truly fun side-scrolling beat-em-up that I've played in a long while. Yeah, having the same button to pick up items and attack is annoying, and yeah, the >60fps bug that prevents recruiting was frustrating until I saw the fix in the Steam discussions, and the inability to remap keys is truly awful, but the game is engaging and keeps me coming back to play, something the other meh beat-em-ups couldn't do.
Highly recommended--just make sure you get controllers and fix the bugs so that you can avoid the pitfalls that drove the negative reviews on Steam.

The game oozes style and is a blast to play, tight controls, feels great with co-op but perfectly standalone as an awesome modern River City Ransom side-scrolling beat-em-up with fun characters, only minor annoyances with boss fights, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Good value for the price, regardless of the price you find it for. I have very little to criticize regarding it.
