There's trouble once again on the mean streets of River City, but this time the boys are in over their heads!
In this all-new entry in the legendary beat-'em-up series, hot-blooded heroes Kunio and Riki have been captured, leaving it to their hard-hitting girlfriends, Kyoko and Misako, to serve up some payback.
As you punch and kick your way across town - either solo or with a friend in a local co-op - you'll gain new skills, chow down on power-ups, wield an assortment of weapons, and unleash an arsenal of combos, throws, and special attacks that will leave the bad guys crying for mama - all in outrageous 16-bit style!
The awesome action is punctuated by manga story panels, anime cutscenes, and an epic synth-pop soundtrack. It’s an old-school rumble for a new generation!

Pros:
- Nice art style with well made sprites and character portraits.
- Sound tracks are fantastic and are a great listen on own.
- The English voice acting is decent and it provides many different languages to chosen from.
- The game plays pretty nice with various items to brawl with along with different combo patterns and attack combinations.
The game is fairly balanced with difficulty and includes boss fights.
Cons
- Game can be a bit repetitive.
- Base price is a tad bit expensive at $30 usd. Would prefer $20 or lower.

Fun game to play with a buddy. Only issue I have is the lack of dedicated online co op. Had to use the Steam remote play feature to play the game with a friend. Otherwise the combat is fun, if you've played Scott Pilgrim you already have an idea of how the gameplay is.

A nice love letter to beat-em-up's in the vein of Final Fight and, as expected, River City Ransom. Gorgeous pixel art and animation and a dope soundtrack to boot. Good for people getting into the genre, as you can win by mashing buttons or get a bit more technical if you feel like it.

Having played a few hours of it on console before finally picking it up for PC, it's definitely a step-up from the previous River City game (Ransom Underground). Works well, it's fun. The soundtrack is pretty good, one of the songs is even in my regular Spotify rotation. The biggest downside is the co-op is local/Remote play only, though it's a minor downside since my regular gaming group is all local and remote play works quite well for us, your mileage may vary there.
RCG Zero and RCG2 are supposed to have online play I believe, so at least there'll be that when those titles release. We definitely need more games in the genre.
