About Shadow Warrior

About this game

Developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital.

Engage in a brand-new reimagining by Flying Wild Hog's Hard Reset with the first entry to the new franchise Shadow Warrior! Take control of the reluctant and witty hero Lo Wang as you'll take up blades, guns, and magic to tear apart your foes.

Reluctantly Save the World

Take control of Lo Wang after he's tasked to retrieve a legendary weapon by a deceitful co-worker. Now, to save the world, Lo Wang must use a combination of armaments, including a sword, gun, magic, and ever-present wit, to take down the demon invasion and send them back into the darkness.

The Legend of Lo Wang

Play through the revisioning of the Shadow Warrior franchise and live the legend of Lo Wang as the game perfectly amalgamates fast-paced combat with a hilarious story of our reluctant hero.

Slash Through Your Foes

Cut through hordes of enemies with your legendary katana as you unsheathe your blade and use masterful and precise cuts to bring about their end!

A Large Arsenal

From old-style crossbows to revolvers, quad-barrel shotguns, and laser-guided rockets, upgrade an arsenal of numerous weapons and choose the right one for each quest as you embark on a journey to banish evil! Increase firing rates, and destructive power, and ever add alternative firing options to each weapon to customise your approach to combat ven further!

The Mystical Arts

Use numerous mystical powers to aid you in combat both defensively and offensively. Call upon a shield to protect you from blows and paralyze your enemies or use their severed heads as weapons and rip their beating hearts out of their chests to bring them to their knees — all is fair in war.

"As a smarter-than-it-looks nostalgia trip, then, Shadow Warrior delivers, and as long as you keep that in mind - and consume it in moderation - it's an easy recommendation."
8 / 10
"While Shadow Warrior is a no-frills kind of first-person shooter, it's one that will certainly stick with you, mainly due to the joy that hacking and slashing enemies brings....

"Shadow Warrior is old-school in all the right ways, bringing the original into the modern era while leaving some of its less desirable aspects in the past where they belong."

Lo Wang and his antics are really fun to play. It does a decent job at bringing back the 90s Wang. This is more than a standard FPS and has a bit of a tech tree in it. All around though it is still a fun enjoyable game and you get to around throwing sticky bombs. The quotes in this will make you chuckle but not laugh like the original one.

I’m not one to shy away from offensive humour, but let’s just say this game made me cringe quite a few times within its opening hour. Some games age far more gracefully than others, this one is of the latter examples

Shadow Warrior is amazing. It's similar to Doom but with its own unique gameplay with swords. So much fun

Easy to play mid school (not old school but not a modern either, obv) that gets frantic and more than a little Dumb Jock humour elements, which work. It's no cerebral workout and is utterly linear, which in today's gaming landscape is akin to a holiday (that's vacation for you overseas lot.) Well worth getting on sale as, like me, it's a lil old but oodles of fun.
