HD “Remaster”

Nocturne was originally released in 2003 for the PS2. So a port to modern hardware obviously won’t look spectacular. Branding this game a “Remaster” is simply false. It’s a port, and a bad one. Which is a shame, because the game is really good. The game functions fine and is playable however the music quality is compressed, cutscenes are still 4:3 with some weird upscaling and the frame rate is capped at 30fps. Atlus basically just grabbed the PS2 version, ported it to Unity and increased the screen resolution. One thing I found quite amusing, is that the vending machines in the game have the Atlus logo on them, the Atlus logo has changed since 2003 so you know what they did? They updated the logos, which is a nice touch, but LEFT THE TEXTURES AT THE SAME RESOLUTION!! It's clear that Atlus put zero love or actual effort into making this "remaster". The game is great, but it’s just not worth the price. Wait for it to be at LEAST 30% off before you even consider buying this.

Don't let people who are upset the port not having enough love put into it stop you from actually playing the game. Nocturne is an amazing game. The rough edges of the original game have been smoothed out by skill selection and the internet. It's an amazing experience that should not be ignored. Use to like RPGs but now get bored with them? Does the story feel bogged down or it's too easy? Nocturne is minimal (yet engaging) story and all crunch. Press-turn, buff/debuff, elemental weaknesses, insta-kills that actually are useful. Amazing. Yes, you could emulate and mod it. I'm not sure what the scene has done, but I'm sure you can get a comparable experience. However, if you know that buying a game will get you to actually play it, the remaster is for you.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne is a very good jrpg. Combat is great but the weakest element of the game is exploration. Finding out where to go is the worst part of the game.

That game isnt a classic for nothing. This is the hardcore Rated M version of pokemon. Collect demons, fuse them, destroy god.

I always thought Persona was good, but now I know SMT is superior.

SMT3 is a great RPG with an adult/dark Pokemon feel. Not much has changed if you already played it back on the PS2 but if you haven't, it became a cult classic for a reason.
