About Warhammer: Vermintide 2

About this game

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is the sequel to Fatshark’s co-op hack and slash action game bringing more vermin and magic.

It’s The End Times!

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a first-person action game set in the fictional End Times Warhammer universe. Players take control of one of five heroes, and must fight against the combined forces of the malevolent Chaos army and swarming Skaven horde. The game features 15 different careers to choose from, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. There is also an improved Loot System which rewards players with weapons, items, crafting material and more after each mission.

Intense Combat Experience

The intense combat experience of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 offers players a thrilling adventure as they battle against hordes of enemies in vicious melee combat. Players must work together with their team members and AI companions to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. The Heroic Deeds System allows players to face unique scenarios and tests within the game, altering enemy composition, level settings, weapon use and mission objectives as they progress through the game.

Customisable Playstyle

Players have the freedom to customise their playstyle with 15 different careers available for them to choose from. Each career comes with its own talent tree progression that can be upgraded to fit their play style preferences. In addition, the improved Loot System ensures that players are rewarded for their achievements within the game by offering them loot such as weapons, consumables, quests and trinkets at the end of each mission.

Critic Reviews

80 / 100
"Vermintide 2's combat and level design are so feverishly fun that I'll put up with its bad matchmaking and RPG progression if it means chopping more ratmen in half."
80 / 100
"Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a game that still largely stands alone. There are few games that offer up this kind of cooperative experience, meaning FatShark has a chance to...
70 / 100
"Even without microtransactions, loot boxes manage to spoil another potentially classic game, although the core combat and co-op atmosphere still shine through."

One of the best co-op horde survival games, up there with Left 4 Dead if not better. Characters have different weapons and abilities, different enemies, great and varying level designs. Only issue is that there are RPG grinding mechanics, which I do not like.

I'm a big fan of the Warhammer 30K-41K (mostly a heavy novel reader) and I've played a couple of the console/desktop games more so in that line, not so much in the Age of Sigmar line (I'm assuming Vermintide is in that line given some of the character quotes). That being said, without having read any of the novels pertaining to it or any background lore, I found it relatively easy to follow the story and events taking place. Overall the graphics are wonderful and the characters are fun to experiment with, I'm still getting used to all of the classes/careers offered and am still learning about everything else offered so I can't add much more detail than that. I definitely enjoy this game nonetheless and especially love the combat and variety of enemies, level designs, and background music. I have yet to try this in multiplayer so I can't provide any info on that, unfortunately.

A solid dark fantasy hack and slash, with or without friends, there's no shortage of fun to be had.

A brilliant co-operative first person hack and slash, akin to the Left 4 Dead series, with a darker grittier fantasy setting within the Warhammer universe. As with most co-op games, it is more fun with friends, however with semi-competent AI, playing by yourself holds up just as well, and can offer a greater challenge if you seek it. It features an enjoyable and somewhat in-depth crafting and leveling system among the main characters, and their multiple subclasses (careers), and the variety of weapons they can use to swat down hordes of rats, chaos-warped humans, and the half-animal Beastmen. With it's multiple gamemodes, difficulty settings and AI director allowing for a different surprise each run, as well as new careers being released over time, the game has an immense level of replayability.

Grab some friends and hack some rat people!

It's left4dead but in Warhammer End Times. Great for playing with exactly three friends Not too many maps, but they are a lot of fun, full of secrets and quite replayable on different difficulties and with encounter randomizer. Being attacked by 20-30 rats and hacking through them is an amazing experience. The biggest downside is that it's meant for four players, so if there's more of you, tough luck. If there's less, you need to play with bots and/or randos.

One of the best 4 player co-op games out there. The melee combat in this game is the best of this genre with 100+ hours of replay value.

This game doesn't that much to offer on the surface, but what it does offer, it does well. Team up with your friends, go kill monsters, and survive. You can choose different "classes" or characters, level them up, and wreck carnage. That's pretty much it. Pretty fun when you're bored.

Amazing L4D-esque game that has a lot of niches for you to explore. Something about killing Khaos and Skaves as part of the cast always has me intrigued to play more. And allows you to pass the time for me to wait for the Warhammer 40k one, has me stoked!
