About Yakuza Kiwami 2

About this game

Join the legendary Dragon of Dojima as he returns to the fight in action-adventure Yakuza Kiwami 2, now on Steam PC for the first time!

With this Steam game, players will follow Kazuma Kiryu's journey as he travels to Sotenbori, Osaka to broker peace between the rival clans - after the assassination of Yukio Terada, the Fifth Chairman of the Tojo Clan.

CAN YOU RESTORE PEACE?
A single gunshot has shattered the peace between the clans, and war is on the horizon. Having built a peaceful life away from conflict while caring for young Haruka Sawamura, Kiryu is pulled back into the world he wanted to leave behind.

Ryuji Goda, known as the Dragon of Kansai, will stop at nothing to get his war. In this world, there can only be one dragon!

DRAGON FURY
Send clan thugs and street brawlers packing with explosive hand-to-hand combat. Use Kiryu's inner 'Dragon' style combat (used in Yakuza 0) to take down multiple enemies.

Fill up your Heat Action gauge to unleash ultimate attacks that increase your power, speed and durability!

THE 4K TREATMENT
Rebuilt from the ground up, SEGA has enhanced Yakuza Kiwami 2's visual representation and playstyle by using the Dragon Engine, evolving one of the series' stand-out titles into a modern classic. Enjoy glorious 4K resolution, unlocked framerates, customizable controls and robust graphics options.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW
Play fan-favorite mini-games including updated versions of the Cabaret Club simulator (Yakuza 0) and the Clan Creator from Yakuza 6, which now includes New Japan Pro Wrestling stars Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono, Riki Choshu, Genichiro Tenryu, and Tatsumi Fujinami.

Brand new additions to the game include an arcade port of Virtual On and Virtua Fighter 2, golf bingo and Toylets.

THE MAJIMA WAY
Also new to Kiwami 2 is the 'Majima Saga' which features Goro Majima in his own playable adventure revealing events that occur prior to the game.

Known by many names including the 'Mad Dog of Shimano' and the 'One-Eyed Demon', Majima is a quirky, chaotic character and playing through an epilogue-type story offers yet more hours of exploring and kicking thugs to the curb.

YOUR OFFICIAL YAKUZA KIWAMI 2 STEAM KEY GIVES YOU:

  • Critically-acclaimed console game now for PC gamers
  • Action-adventure with entertaining beat 'em up combat
  • Graphical upgrades including 4k resolution and  unlocked framerates
  • New and improved game modes and mini-games from across the franchise

Critic Reviews

88 / 100
"A triumphant remake of Yakuza 2, full of fun diversions and featuring one of the series' best stories."
90 / 100
"Sega’s original sequel has received the remake it’s due. The story fumbles in places, but its high points allow it to sit next to Yakuza 0 as the best the series has to offer."
90 / 100
"The way you can tell a critic liked a game is whether or not they’ll go back to it on their own accord when their review is finished. That is exactly what I’m doing with Yakuza...

Yakuza Kiwami 2 made me buy an expensive new graphics card... and it was still no match for the graphics of this game. No, but the aliasing in this engine is a pain, mainly due to the lack of TAA. To make it go you'd need to play this game in 4K with the downside of poor framerates, but it's one of the most gorgeous looking games ever, no exaggeration. In terms of gameplay, coming right from Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 0 (never played the originals), it was a bit of a shock. Besides the graphics, the gameplay, fighting and physics are all based on the new Yakuza 6 engine, aptly called Dragon Engine, and it's a bit of a getting used to situation, but once you're up to speed it's Yakuza as usual. It's a kickass game and that's despite all of it's flaws, it deserves five stars no less. It's not a game that will age badly anytime soon. Honestly, I can't get enough of this series, I love what they've done with the Kiwami remakes and the Judgment spin-offs and I can't recommend them enough.

I’m new to the franchise and am playing the games chronologically—being a remake of an older game, the storytelling holds up well and I really enjoyed it. The environment feels much more immersive with the addition of small but thoughtful details (even as simple as being able to open doors or the seamless transitions between battle and exploration). My major gripe is the optimization. For the first few hours of playtime, the game was pretty laggy and would freeze. I tinkered a bit with the settings (admittedly I didn’t know what I was doing) and it got smoother for the rest of my playthrough. I was also playing using a Switch Pro controller and the game didn’t come with the proper button mapping; buttons displayed were for DS controllers and was frustrating at times. Weird because I didn’t have this issue for 0 and Kiwami, nor 3 which I’m playing right now. Nonetheless, I was really invested in the story which overshadowed my complaints.

Very happy with this game, my Yakuza collection is almost complete, just need to pick up Like a Dragon. Kiwami 2 is a ton of fun and look forward to spending much more time with it in future.
