About Yakuza: Like a Dragon

About this game

RISE LIKE A DRAGON

Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he didn't commit. Never losing faith, he loyally serves his time and returns to society to discover that no one was waiting for him on the outside, and his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected most.

Ichiban sets out to discover the truth behind his family's betrayal and take his life back, drawing a ragtag group of society’s outcasts to his side: Adachi, a rogue cop, Nanba, a homeless ex-nurse, and Saeko, a hostess on a mission. Together, they are drawn into a conflict brewing beneath the surface in Yokohama and must rise to become the heroes they never expected to be.

Yakuza:Like a Dragon is an ode to classic gaming tropes with a breath of fresh air to gaming overall

Yakuza:Like a Dragon while the 7th game of the Yakuza series does not deter newcomers to the franchise to pick it up and play.It is a turn-based game and its fluid mechanics allow it to be enjoyable even for people that dislike the genre. It should be noted that playing the previous games allows certain moments and character reveals do be even more impactful. The game is fresh, unique and dedicated to old school gamers as the protagonist Ichiban is one and finds himself at his forties questioning everything he knows. The gameplay follows the classic Yakuza recipe with a more high stakes albeit less serious than previous games storyline and many fun sidequests ranging from heartfelt attempts to make a child keep its will to live to helping an adult Yakuza baby with diapers.Aside from the sidequests the game offers many, many minigames such as Pachinko or Dragon Kart a variation of the classic kart games. All in all Yakuza:Like a Dragon is a game worth picking up even if you are not a fan of turn-based games or even if you havent played any Yakuza games before.

Just an absolutely awesome JRPG with solid basegame, meta humor, and is pretty well optimized from what I can tell.

I have NEVER played a single one of the Yakuza games and I clocked in finishing this game with 88 hours (and that ain't even covering ALL the MANY extras this game offers). I cannot praise this title enough. Its insane, wild, deep and really has some level of depth and love poured into it. I full would recommend this title if you're curious and an RPG to boot. No regrets! <3 PS - Play with the dubbed version of the game. The VA's really are giving it their all and they earned some major praise. *tips hat*

Got the game 3 days ago. 25 hours in. Don't regret a single thing especially for that price tag.
