Bethesda’s top-selling post-apocalyptic franchise is coming to a television near you
Fallout 76
Amazon Studios has announced this week that it is working with Kilter Films on an officially-licensed Fallout TV series.
The popular role-playing franchise has spanned six full titles, including the Fallout 76 game released in 2018, as well as spin-offs.
Fallout is based in 2077, envisioned by late 1940s Americans, and the world is set in a nuclear war between the USA and China. Humans have found themselves hidden away in vaults while the utopian world is transformed into a wasteland.
Each game uses this as the basis of the adventure and is known for the contrast between the vast, dull wasteland and the small, vibrant vaults, as well as the contrast between the serious nature and the ironic humor.

While not much is known about the series so far, as we can see from the above video, we do know that two acclaimed producers will be at the helm. Jonathan Nolan wrote the screenplays with brother Christopher Nolan for the Batman trilogy that included the Oscar-winning The Dark Knight, as well as Interstellar.
He will be joined by his wife and fellow Westworld writer-producer, Lisa Joy. We expect their experience with the Emmy nominated sci-fi series will translate well to the world Bethesda has crafted for Fallout.
"Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,” said Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. “Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends.
“So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios”
Bethesda’s Todd Howard will also help with the project as an executive producer alongside Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham from Kilter Films, and James Altman from Bethesda Softworks.
