A look at the 'complete' anime strategy game coming to Steam PC
Console gamers might have already played Disgaea 5, but those playing it for the first time on Steam PC will be getting the pumped up version when Disgaea 5 Complete arrives in summer 2018.
The game, which is the sixth in the Disgaea series from developer Nippon Ichi Software - the team behind A Rose in the Twilight and The Longest Five Minutes - heavily revolves around a story of revenge and features a number of events that have occurred before the player arrives, so expect a compelling and fun narrative revealed piece by piece through flashbacks.
Here, we preview the latest Disgaea game heading to PC and what gamers can expect when they pick up their Steam key.
Story and features
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance was initially released in 2015, followed by a Nintendo Switch release last year, and now a Steam PC launch this month. With Disgaea 5 Complete, you're getting the main game and all additional content released for the original, which includes eight bonus scenarios, four fan-favorite characters, and three character classes.
You control protagonist Killia and his tenacious army of rebels on their dark and dangerous path to vengeance against a terrible overlord named Void Dark, who seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds. The game features over-the-top action and hilarious writing, offering hundreds of hours of gameplay with deep strategic battles.
In terms of customization, Disgaea 5 is pretty open. Players can recruit new units from over 40 jobs and races, then dive in and strengthen them as you see fit in their personal Chara Worlds. You can also use hundreds of items found within the Netherworlds, or make your own at the Alchemist before powering them up, as well as discovering hidden abilities in the Item World.
From the trailer, players will get a good idea of what to expect from the game's combat system that, like its predecessors, continues the turn-based attacking with highlighted hit-points.
