Assassin's Creed Origins

Ubisoft™ presents Assassin's Creed® Origins™ Assassin's Creed® Origins™ is a Ubisoft™ game that is part of the Assassin's Creed® franchise in which you, the player™ get to experience the memories of Layla Hassan's™ Ancestors and see where the Creed began and how it came to be. That all sounds so exciting but but you don't really get to see a refined version of this until you get to the DLC™ OOPS. Right, well the gameplay in this one was a big breath of fresh air for me, the combat for the series peaked at AC III-IV® for me and this was such a massive departure from how you expect an AC® game would play, that I just kind of fell in love with it. That doesn't mean that there aren't any drawbacks and stuff like that. We ARE talking about Ubisoft™ here, so you're gonna have to go and do all that OPEN-WORLD-ACTION-RPG-MAP REVEAL™ type of stuff by getting on top of a really really high place so you can see more stuff. It is nice to see with this engine for like the first few times but since this map is MASSIVE, it gets kind of old pretty fast. The weapon types that you can use are pretty fun, you might be overly reliant on the shield at some points and that would kind of devolve the game into a BLOCK-PARRY-ATTACK-BLOCK-BLOCK-ATTACK-BLOCK-HEAVY ATTACK-BLOCK sort of pattern sometimes. I'm sure many reviews have referenced that the CoMBaT iS dArK SoULs-EsQuE so I don't have to. The levelling system is there so you don't progress to regions that you aren't supposed to be in until a certain period in the game BUT if you're just doing side quests here and there, you can be over-levelled for a story mission and the results are pretty funny when some random antagonist just talks trash or is hyped up during a cutscene and you just clap them cheeks hard in less than 2 strokes. The story is pretty okay. Revenge is a good motive for a lot of narratives and it fits well here. Bayek® is a pretty well rounded character. He's got moments where he shows he cares, moments where he shows his resolve and moments where the man is at his most vulnerable. He's no Ezio® but he doesn't need to be. He's a good character who only gets better over time. Now, the creed stuff though, a lot of it gets slowly fleshed out but a good chunk of that and the infancy of the Assassin® Brotherhood is seen on the Hidden Ones® DLC. There you'll actually see how they start out and sort of function as a working brotherhood, doing contract work and all that jazz. Pretty cool ngl but that sorta...

This game is a good game. The story is nice but the combat wasn’t my favorite. It wasn’t bad enough for me to not play it and enjoy it but it was enough to take away a star.

Great graphics, lots of content and very huge world, this might be the last truly good Assassin's Creed, as the later titles is more like action RPG than proper Assassin's Creed game, but I don't like Ubisoft put more emphasis in RPG aspect than true assassination aspect here (which is even worse for later titles)

Crashes all the time! Have plenty of vram left with high quality, but I moved it to low video quality, disabled anti-aliasing function, played it full screen, windowed, and windowed borderless, all to the same conclusion. I uninstalled, reinstalled and no difference. I also have AC Odyssey, to which I have none of these issues.

The game is great, one of my favorites of the AC series so far. But also the main reason I got it runs well on the Steam deck. And those are the games I mainly buy no a days are games that run well on the steam deck.

As an ancient Egypt enjoyer, I f@#$ing love this game just for the environment alone the atmosphere is incredible and I'm a sucker for games where I can look just as good as the environment
