I've played through the first PoE twice and greatly enjoyed the game so it was only natural to pick up the sequel. But I find myself struggling to get into the groove with this new seafaring adventure. Like the first game, I find the biggest obstacle to overcome to enjoy PoE is the story. Not that it's bad, but damn, does it feel dense and unfriendly at times. You'll have to learn way more than you think about different types of magical and supernatural abilities that all seem interchangeable but are absolutely not, learn about all the different gods and their relationships with each other as well as the multiple names for each god, learn the history of the different regions including regions that don't actually appear in the game but constantly come up in the story... It's a lot to take in. If you're into lore and worldbuilding to a degree that borders on obsessive, you'll find more than you can handle in PoE. The gameplay itself remains mostly unchanged, with the biggest new feature being ship travel and ship-to-ship combat. Which is a blast, but also feels a bit disconnected from the actual story. Still, you can feel like a pirate, so that's pretty alright, matey.

Honestly, not a huge fan of the arpg genre, thinking of titles like baldur's gate 1-2, pathfinder, but I really enjoyed this one. The voice acting and sound design is amazing and the real high points of the game. Story, gameplay are quite fantastic as well. But the fully voiced writing just stole the show for me.

Follows your old school top down DND or Neverwinter style rpg, huge character customization with classes and playstyles, lots of story and dialogue choices where you can determine what happens and the outcome based on how you act.

Really fun with the turn based mode, fun setting for a RPG and the story is really interesting. Only flaw I found was it took a little bit for the story to get rolling.
