About Resident Evil 3

About this game

Join Jill Valentine, the heroine and amazing survivor of the notorious disaster at the mansion, as her nightmare continues. After resigning from S.T.A.R.S. Jill now prepares to head out of Raccoon City...but it's not going to be easy. Caught in a town crawling with flesh eating zombies, more than ever she must rely on brute force and cunning to find a way to escape alive. This unique adventure intricately reveals more of Umbrella Corporation's nightmarish plot and picks up just hours before the events from Resident Evil™ 2.

The third entry in the series received the same treatment as its predecessors – we brought it back and made it the best version possible. Here's what Resident Evil™ 3 on GOG offers:

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • 6 localizations of the game included (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese).
  • Mercenaries Mode included.
  • Improved DirectX game renderer.
  • New rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling and more).
  • Improved graphics engine initialization and restart.

Full support for modern controllers (Sony DualSense, Sony DualShock4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Microsoft Xbox One, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series and many more) with optimal button binding regardless of the hardware, hotplugging and wireless mode.

Our version of the game keeps all the original content intact – 1999's description is no exception. Take a trip down memory lane and see how Resident Evil™ 3 was described to gamers when it launched all those years ago:

Fantastic survival horror brought up to modern graphical standards. Some fun horror set pieces with a slight bit more of an action focus than RE2

Excellent remake game that you can play over 30 hours

RE3re is a very intense and immersive game, and also shorter but that does not mean its bad. (Assist Mode: 5 hours) If you want to complete all achievements 5 hours become 30. Overall, it's a good remake game.

As someone who has played a good amount of the resident evil franchise, I really like this game. I bought it after completing RE2 and feel like there is a good flow as the two games connect a little, something that isn't seen as clearly in the later games, definitely had fun with all the little jumpscares and love nemesis as the boss in this one.

This game may have received not so positive reviews for different reasons, but for me, it's a perfectly good game. Not as massive of a masterpiece as Resident Evil 2, but that's a very tough act to follow. Some things are actually improved or built on from the previous instalment, and the length of the game is perfectly fine. The replayability of it is what makes it even more fun. Unlocking items and weapons for upgrades makes the gameplay worth coming back to after you finish the story. And the voice acting in this one is exceptional, with smooth and stellar performances across the cast. Really enjoyed this one and will definitely play again at some point.

Lemme start this review by saying that I never grew up with the Resident Evil franchise. I came to it very late, like almost a whole year before Village was even released. With that in mind I decided to basically get all the games I could get my hands on and now I'm a proud owner of all the copies available on PC. Resi3 being the last one of all of them for me to buy. Graphically, this game is absolutely incredible. The neon signs, the lighting, the reflections (without RTX) make this game an absolute marvel to behold. At first, I almost couldn't even tell that the game actually took place in 1998, it all felt like it was the modern day. Gameplay wise, this game's much more fast paced than 2, 7 or 8, considering Jill's ability to dodge at the right time and shoot back John Wick style, or Carlos' ability to just deck enemies in the face with perfect timing. It feels like a speedrunner's paradise in most areas... But if you're not a speedrunner, I'm afraid the game's length is gonna disappoint you. My max run time was almost 7 hours. That might not sound too bad, but that was mostly because I spent likely an hour and a half trying to carry everything I could find to my safe box or solving a puzzle. For a normal player, this game might feel too short, but when you pay attention to the best things it does, it's a game you'd call Short and Sweet in that regard.
