Great for newcomers to the series, and very much does the original justice

Even as a newcomer to the RE series, 4 has been an absolute blast to play. It's a bit more accommodating for people used to action games than 2 and 3's remakes, with faster paced combat and weapons; though ammo and inventory management are still very important. More on inventory management, 4 has the most fun method I've ever seen in a game, allowing you to manually place and sort all your items if you'd like. Or just press a key to have it sorted for optimal space, if it's too stressful. While the original still holds well gameplay-wise in my opinion, the story changes in this remake have definitely been for the better; with more likable character writing and tweaked plotpoints. There's a lot of replayability, whether it's going for better times, grabbing all collectibles or going for achievement challenge runs... that, and it's a great loop that's just fun to do again. (Fret not, they're not ubisoft collectibles... they're appropriately spread out and sellable to the merchant) I can't say much performance-wise, I cap to 30fps; but I had no stuttering or frame drops, and other reviews seem to say it's fairly well optimized. This is only one of two games that I don't regret paying full price for, it's definitely worth it. 9.5/10 leon in chains got me feeling a certain way

Basically a recreation of the best game ever made, but now you can parry basically every attack and suplex more enemies than in the original. Really can't go wrong with this if you like the horror - action genre even if you're not familiar with the original or have only become a fan of the series recently.

Possibly my game of the year

RE 4 is the perfect continuation in the modern/remake area of Residence Evil. The game is not only optimized swimmingly, it definitely is a contender for best looking game this year. Shifting from the graphics, the gameplay is TIGHT! This really is everything that made 4 classic fun, but sheds all its predecessor's clunk. Definitely give this game a go if you've liked the RE remakes so far, otherwise if you haven't played 2/3 remake, give them a play first for cohesiveness. You won't regret it.

The original Resident Evil 4 has always been one of my favorite games of all time and this remake of the classic survival horror title only stands to reinforce my opinion. Everything from the chilling atmosphere to the cheesiness of the action set pieces has been reimagined faithfully in this beautiful game thanks to the powerful and versatile RE engine. The level design is top notch and encourages you to learn the layout of each room and strategize the best way to go about disposing or evading the enemies. Combat is very satisfying. It feels really good to get a headshot critical and see their head explode or unload a shotgun on a Ganado and just see their entire body be shredded. This is probably the best looking game I've seen and it runs amazingly on PC with no hitches on my machine on close to the highest settings. I am also really glad that they fleshed out more of the characters (Luis and Krauser) and hearing the banter between Leon and Ashley brings a grin to my face. I'm kind of upset that they cut the U3 boss, but hopefully when DLC gets released we will be able to see him all his glory in HD. Overall, I would still say I like the original just a wee bit more I still think this is an otherwise perfect game.
