8.5 / 10
"Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition doesn't mess much with what made the original game so great. And that's a good thing."
8.5 / 10
"A worthy investment if you have yet to play this fantastic open-world title. However, if this is a returning visit to Hong Kong, you might want to wait on a price drop."
"Although it's slightly rough around the edges, and packs the occasional bug, Sleeping Dogs is nevertheless a gripping and thoroughly entertaining Hong Kong action movie in game...

Very good story line and gameplay. This game mainly features a beat 'em up style combat, and subpar gunplay. However I still think the game is amazing.

*Chinese Yakuza Go Brrrr…* I played this game on my old laptop which had intel integrated graphics. I am surprised I could run the game smoothly at low settings! So, how is this game different from the standard edition? Well, the base game is no longer available for sale. The definitive edition is the only edition you can purchase now. You get 24 post-launch DLCs with this edition! **GTA + Yakuza = Sleeping Dogs?!?** *Storyline* Imagine Yakuza
the game franchise
but with the open-world setting as in the GTA Series. Yeah, that’s basically Sleeping Dogs. The storyline is a roller-coaster of emotions. From trust & love to vengeance & bloodshed, you’ll experience these all in your 15ish hours of gameplay. So, the basic outline of the story is as follows: The game is set in the beautiful city of Hong Kong. You play as an undercover cop named Wei Shen whose main objective is to blend in with the local gangs and work his way up in order to confront & arrest the high-ranking leaders of the Sun On Yee Triad. A story that’s filled with emotions & a lot of plot twists. You can refer to my older review on the base game by following this link: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/UnitedCritics/discussions/0/2963890812396371792/ *Gameplay Mechanics* The mechanics have been mentioned in my old review of the base game which I have linked above. But let me state a few notable ones! * This is the first time I can say that melee combat is way more fun than using guns. You can feel the power hidden behind each hit. Melee weapons range from purses & shopping bags to baseball bats & machetes. * What makes melee combats more fun is the ability to carry out environmental executions. You can smash a person’s head into the speakers that are blasting music or even drop a hanging engine onto your opponent to literally crush them. * Since you’re an undercover cop, you don’t actually “hijack” rides. If you want to borrow a car from someone who is driving down the street, unlike GTA, you show your police ID & they get out of the car so you can use it. This was an interesting touch of detail they added! * Apart from the main quest, there are a lot of activities you can do in the gigantic city of Hong Kong. From Karaoke & Street Racing to simple gambling, you can do em all! You can also purchase vehicles, items or even grab some pork buns! * This game can be easily compared with GTA IV as both of these games were released in the same era. In my...

This game is very enjoyable. Compared to the GTA it has better story, combat is more of a stylish kind with heavy focus on melee fighting. Story is really amazing. I wish there was a sequel. World is quite easy to navigate, fast travel isnt the best, but its offset by being able to order your vehicle almost anywhere, so you have always decent means of transport. The soundtrack is really amazing too

It's a fun game with great combat, my only issue is the mission complete sound effect for the Nightmare in North Point expansion didn't seem to be affected by the volume slider in the game, meaning that your ears would just be blasted with the sound effect every time you completed a mission or side mission, other than that, it's a really good game, it's very unfortunate that the sequel for this was cancelled.
