About this game
Greenwood high school, located in a remote mountainous area, two students found themselves trapped and vulnerable. The place they once knew has changed in unsettling ways, haunted by evil creatures. To escape, they must explore the mysterious campus filled with ominous objects and puzzles. How will they survive in this ever threatening environment? Could they return to safety in one piece?
Set in a fictitious world in the 1960s Taiwan under martial law, Detention, the story-driven atmospheric horror incorporated East Asian elements rarely used in games. Taoism, Buddhism, Chinese mythology, the game draws on local Taiwanese cultural references to tell an unique and terrifying story.
In this 2D atmospheric horror side-scroller, players navigate the main characters in a classic point and click fashion to explore a high school where evil encroaches. While hiding from the rampaging monsters, you are to find items to interact with in the otherworldly rooms. And as more mysteries unveiled, the dark past of a cursed school will finally surface.

Detention is a horror adventure set in Taiwan during the White Terror period. You play as a high schooler who fell asleep during class, then waking up with the school abandoned from an approaching typhoon. Or is it? Because it quickly becomes clear something much more sinister is going on as you try to find your way out. What follows is a story dripping with atmosphere and tragedy that goes some uncomfortable places. In some ways this game is very reminiscent of Silent Hill 2, in that the scariest part is probably not the creepy crawlies out for your hide, but in how it confronts you with the darker impulses of mankind. While not required, you will also get more out if you know your way around Chinese folklore and philosophy, since the game draws heavily on both. Detention is not a long game, you can churn it out in an afternoon, but on the other hand, it also does not overstay its welcome, making for an overall solidly paced and engaging experience.

And I've never seen any horror made by them.
So naturally: I was really excited to try this out.
Well, that really was honestly the best decision.
At the beginning, the story really sink with me.
I became interested in the story of Wei Chung.
However, then I've met the girl: Fang Ray Shin.
And suddenly the story became more twisted.
I got spooked, almost made a mess, but nice.
Then I continued to play, solved some puzzle.
And another plot twist that got me spooked.
So much depth in the story, it's well written.
I was sad, mad, depressed, angry, it got me.
This game is a very emotional roller coaster.
RedCandleGames made a real masterpiece.
I really felt scared for the main characters.
That story just really wrapped around me.
Good job, developers, it's really awesome.
I have to give this game a positive review.
