Greenwood high school, located in a remote mountainous area, two students found themselves trapped and vulnerable. The place they once knew has changed in unsettling ways, haunted by evil creatures. To escape, they must explore the mysterious campus filled with ominous objects and puzzles. How will they survive in this ever threatening environment? Could they return to safety in one piece?
Set in a fictitious world in the 1960s Taiwan under martial law, Detention, the story-driven atmospheric horror incorporated East Asian elements rarely used in games. Taoism, Buddhism, Chinese mythology, the game draws on local Taiwanese cultural references to tell an unique and terrifying story.
In this 2D atmospheric horror side-scroller, players navigate the main characters in a classic point and click fashion to explore a high school where evil encroaches. While hiding from the rampaging monsters, you are to find items to interact with in the otherworldly rooms. And as more mysteries unveiled, the dark past of a cursed school will finally surface.

I.... was not prepared.... for this game....
I streamed this game and was done in around 4 hours when you take out the breaks. And now, sitting at my computer, having finished the game and gotten what I presume is the bad end....
That's the only description I have. "I was not prepared for this game"
It starts out as a really well made horror game. I was sitting at my pc with my stuffed Stitch glad he wasn't a living creature because I'm pretty sure I would have killed him. Then slowly. No... you know what. Not slowly. Pretty damn rapidly the tone shifts from scary monster horror game to psychological horror. When I say rapidly though I don't mean in a way that doesn't make sense or that was jarring. As quickly as the tone changes it's actually perfect and seamless.
I was sitting here crying at the end of this game and just emotionally drained. Four hours this game... and it WRECKED me in those four hours.
Bravo. This game is amazing. Best horror experience I've had in a while. It wasn't just jump scares or even a good chunk jump scares. It was genuinely terrifying. At first terrifying for the "Oh god I hope I don't get killed" kind... then to the "Oh God this is horrible, please don't" kind of terrifying.

The premise is based on the White Terror period in Taiwan during the 60s. The story is quite gripping. I really liked the suspense. It took me a while to put the pieces together on what transpired even after I completed the game. The theme is a bit depressing and melancholic (due to the premise) - which is portrayed fantastically. The controls are simple. I completed it in 3 hours (one ending). It's got multiple endings. If you're into this genre, I'd recommend this game.
