About STARFIELD

About this game

It's been 25 years since fans of Bethesda got a new universe to explore, but the wait is over! In Starfield, players will explore the far reaches of space in the year 2330 as they join Constellation, the last group of space explorers looking for rare artefacts throughout the galaxy.

Always In Control

Like Bethesda's other best-selling titles, you have control. Female, male, blonde, brunette... it's all customisable! How the characters look and who they are is up to you.

Resourceful

In Starfield, the planets offer many resources to collect so that you may upgrade your gear and modify your weapons to be battle-ready for the next big fight!

Make It Yours

Characters aren't the only customisable in Starfield, as it wouldn't be a complete galactic experience without a vessel. Not only will you be able to customise the exterior and interior of your spaceship, but also upgrade it so that it's ready to take straight into real-time space combat!

The Galaxy Is Yours

Once you've made your character and readied your ship, it's time to explore the countless planets and environments available! From rocky moon surfaces to colourful and strange wildlife: Starfield invites everyone to explore the over 1,000 planets!

Game is okay. Empty feeling fast travel simulator. Some will enjoy but don’t personally recommend

For some context, I absolutely adore past Bethesda games. Oblivion is probably my favourite but I played a ton of Skyrim and FO 3 and 4 as well. I really wanted to love this game but it’s just fine. It’s not bad necessarily, but it just didn’t draw me in like other Bethesda games have and it definitely needs some polish. Just to name a few things, the world doesn’t feel like a living one, the enemy ai be it humans or aliens is atrocious, there’s no mini-map in cities, the random encounters become dry very quickly, I often found the possible outcomes in quests lacking, and while doing a quest line the game quickly starts to feel like a fast travel simulator as it’s your only option for travel. The game definitely has some strong points. About 30 minutes into the game you really can go anywhere and do whatever you want. The ship builder is pretty expansive and is a lot of fun to play around in, and the game looks stunning. But at the end of the day I wasn’t immersed into a world I wanted to spend hundreds of hours in. Some people will probably enjoy it but I don’t think it’s going to be the Bethesda experience you remember.

Great game, had a lot of fun playing it. There are some bugs on my system tough, but I hope they get patched soon.

So far I have about 42 hours in game. Starfield has been a blast and extremely addictive. Some of the side quests could pass as the main quest. I can’t give much insight on the main quest only because I’ve been so distracted with the others. Bethesda never disappoints.

Game is gorgeous, a little slow at first, but definitely feels like a Bethesda game. I’m liking it a lot so far.

Reminds me of prey alot in the way it looks and can't for the life of me figure out why they bothered to put the ships in the game but have definitely played worse.

Preface: I've played most of the singleplayer RPG's released by Bethesda. Loved how mindblowingly amazing it was to stand in the rain in Balmora in Morrowind. Played my disc of Oblivion grey. Devoured Fallout 3 (also NV) and upgraded my PC for Fallout 4. I love fantasy, I love scifi and I'm a gamer at heart, have been for almost 4 decades since the first game I got to play. Starfield: The grand disappointment Despite Bethesda's decline in the last several years I didn't hesitate to buy Starfield. After all, they'd been acquired by Microsoft. Unfortunately my hopes and dreams for an epic Scifi sojourn were quickly dashed. The install costs 120GB. That chunk of diskspace is bad enough, but you need to validate the files before playing too or it will crash. Little oops, neh? Then you get to actually playing the game. Short workday in the space mine, woohoo, before you find an artifact and get to create your character. Better do that with keyboard and mouse as even an X-box controller will careen wildly across the options analog and d-pad alike. After an introductory mission vs pirates you'll be directed to New Atlantis, the big ole' capital city style place to be and it is big indeed. But empty. Empty of meaningful content. Instead, you're spammed with tons of nft-style mix and match generic citizens. Making it hard to see the actual npc's that may give quests or storyline content. You get to the HQ of the game's 'good guys faction' and join up. From there on it's fetchquesting... so much fetchquesting. Dialogues will look familiar to those who have played Oblivion as the facial animations are just slightly buffed up from that old game. You played that, or the other offerings of yore and you'll be nervously awaiting the moment you wake up in a cart next to some tied up angry men. Dialogues themselves feel... bland. At best. Vasco's the more tolerable npc/companion on that front. Sure, there's the ship building... but the entire universe feels so empty. The game's control issues and many glitches are just symptomatic of Bethesda's "let modders fix it" mentality and you're left with a mess of a game that feels severely dated. In large part due to it STILL using the same old 2001 engine, but "updated". Especially when compared to games where actual love and care and polish were applied. Baldur's Gate 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Elden Ring, Lies of P, Roots of Pacha and many more. But Starfield is a bitter disappointment that I cannot recommend you to...
