About Tales of Berseria™

About this game

Face your Daemons

Nominated for Best RPG at the Global Game Awards 2017, grab your Tales of Berseria Steam key and sink hours into the latest action RPG in the long-running franchise. A prequel to Tales of Zestiria, this Tales game sees familiar combat mechanics and much-loved characters reemerge as Velvet Crowe does battle with Artorius, Innominat and the dreaded Exorcists.

VELVET RETURNS
Embark on a journey of self-discovery with the return of protagonist Velvet, whose once kind demeanor has turned to festering anger and hatred after suffering a traumatic experience three years prior to the events of the game. Velvet must join a crew of combat-ready pirates as they sail across the sea and visit the many islands that make up the holy kingdom of Midgand, in an all-new adventure developed by the celebrated team behind the Tales series.

AUTHENTIC TALES OF EXPERIENCE
With veteran designer Mutsumi Inomata personally designing Velvet – and famous Japanese animation studio, ufotable, returning to animate the game’s breathtaking cutscenes – players can expect truly epic and emotional storytelling in a unique way.

LINEAR MOTION BATTLE SYSTEM
The LMBS returns to the Tale series, dubbed as ‘Liberation-LMBS’. Players have the ability to move freely around the arena and rotate the camera at will. Use physical and magical attacks to take down your foes along with the Artes skills, which have various effects on enemies.
Pick up souls from fallen enemies to power-up your Soul Gauge, unleashing a character’s Break Soul attack, which allows them to exceed their combo limit and bring unique effects into battle – such as Velvet’s Break Soul allowing her to transform her arm to become bestial, with different elemental attacks triggered depending on type of enemy.

YOUR OFFICIAL TALES OF BERSARIA STEAM KEY GIVES YOU:

  • An immersive experience for Tales regulars and newcomers
  • Creative combat in rich, colorful environments
  • Gripping storytelling

Tales of Berseria Another garbage to furnish my ever expanding crap game collection. Graphics- ps2 era, story - not sure didn't get too far, gameplay - boring af. Controls - awful, literally the worst. This is a console port for all the anime fans and other dweebs.

Absolutely amazing game. The battle system, the cast of characters even the world, everything is spot on. It's refreshing to have not only a female protagonist, but one that is honestly fun to play as.

Having never played another Tales game before, I don't have much to compare Tales of Berseria with. That being said, it is a very solid JRPG. It is refreshing to play as a crew of misfits for once who are not your stock-standard shiny saviors of the world. Their personalities are interesting, the english voice acting is good and the soundtrack to accompany it is thoroughly solid, though no track really stands out. The story is engaging from start to finish, though it does feel a bit too long. The graphics are good, if a bit washed out. Combat is serviceable, but it essentially just devolves into button-mashing. It is overall rather easy, though you can adjust the difficulty. While the system is simple, it is also very addictive and I found myself just grinding some fights for fun even if I didn't have to. There is not too much exploration as most areas are linear with the exception of a few easy puzzles and some branching paths, and I ended up feeling restricted most of the time. Then, before the final fight, the game suddenly opens up and you can do / finish a bunch of quests for your companions to round out their stories. Those are all fun, but come a bit late in the game in my opinion. Still, definitely worth doing. Overall, Tales of Berseria is a fun, solid JRPG that does not really stand out in many ways, aside from playing a bunch of demon misfits going against the grain, but is still a fun trip from beginning to finish. A definite recommendation.
