About The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope

About this game

Developed by Supermassive Games and published by BANDAI NAMCO.

Watch an intense survival horror story unfold in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope as you make decisions throughout the game that affect how everything goes. Who survives and who doesn't falls entirely up to how you react at the moment! And if the burden is too heavy, you can always invite your friends to join you!

Consequences

In this entry to the series, four students and their professor become stranded in an abandoned town aptly named Little Hope. A strange fog engulfed the town, and they've begun seeing strange visions from the past; they must figure out what these apparitions and visions are whilst they desperately try to escape.

Haunting Events

The images that are haunting the cast seem to have happened during the XVIIth century Andover Witch Trials! And the apparitions seem to never tire of chasing you through the fog.

Need Help?

In The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, you have two options to play with friends — either online through the Shared Story co-op mode or in Movie Night mode! Watch the story change according to the decision of your loved ones, bringing even more realism and chaos!

Improvements

Supermassive Games has implemented some changes into this entry, building from their success in Man of Medan; now you can walk faster, removed tank controls, and lower difficulty for quick-time events!

Great Voice Actors

Considering the game is so story-heavy, it makes sense to bring great actors to really deliver a performance! You'll find the likes of Will Poulter, Pip Torrens and Caitlyn Sponheimer in the cast!

Replayability

There are multiple endings and scenarios to explore throughout your playthroughs, thanks to the action and consequence style of the game! So there is plenty of replayability in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope.

Choice matters with fair amount of time to decide (non-native English friendly).

Quick review for the first few hours of the game. First off, it works on the steam deck even though it is unsupported (proton 8 or proton GE). On medium settings runs the game very well, you can even connect it to the tv and upscale (to 1080p) it and still get stable 30 fps. Now to the gameplay, I'm positively surprised that you have a fair amount of time to read and decide what action/replay to do. I often find that these kind of games don't thing about non-native English speaking people and the timer is way to short. Same with "press x to jump" there is a fair amount of time to react, unless you are scared and think you should press a different button. The characters have distinct personalities, some are kinda annoying while others are more likable (this is intented from the game, don't be mad because one character is stupid, this is part of the drama). There is one negative thing I have noticed, the viewing angle changes sometimes drastically making it suddenly weird/annoying to move the character (this is always done to show some extra information in the background/foreground). Haven't played through the game so far, but this is a fun game with friends (though can of course also be played alone).
