About Verdun

About this game

Experience one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history with your Verdun Steam PC key.

Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting, the game which started the WW1 Game series. The vicious close-quarters nature of trench warfare means that skill with a bayonet can be as vital as good aim with a rifle.

The game offers 4 distinct game modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Frontlines game mode features 64 players taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing trench line.

THE WESTERN FRONT

The gameplay in this true WW1 battlefield experience is as immersive and gritty as it can get, with features such as optional realistic gore which portrays the true horror of the First World War, and authentic weaponry including artillery and gas. Weapons need to be handled with skill - each gun handles differently and there are no floating crosshairs to aid your aim, along with realistic bullet physics to contend with.

Battle your way across no man’s land to capture the next enemy trench line, before switching to defense to protect your gains in the Frontlines game mode. Keep your head down or quickly don your mask in the event of artillery strikes or gas attacks. This unforgiving war isn’t for the faint-hearted!

AUTHENTIC WORLD WAR ONE SETTING

The WW1 Game Series currently includes Verdun and Tannenberg (set on the Eastern Front). These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines.

For Verdun, we carried out extensive field research at the battlefield itself and were advised by knowledgeable historians to make sure the individual elements in Verdun are as historically accurate as it can get. Uniforms have been recreated to the tiniest detail, the weapons are modeled to exact references and the maps use realistic props and terrain layouts. Everything in the game has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere so typical of WW1, from the immersive interface and war-torn maps to realistic sounds and voices that evoke the feeling of actually being there in the mud-covered trenches, peering out over no man's land in search of the enemy.

YOUR OFFICIAL VERDUN STEAM PC KEY GIVES YOU:

  • Experience World War One gameplay: Accurate weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill-based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barrages
  • Tactical squad-based FPS: 15 distinctive squad types representing soldiers from 5+ countries, each with distinct weapons and equipment
  • True trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline with momentum-based attack and counter-attack gameplay
  • Authentic World War 1 setting: Typical WW1 music and style, historical battlefields representing the key theaters on the Western Front
  • Challenging game modes: Team-based 64 player Frontlines (with bot support), tactical Attrition, skill-based Rifle Deathmatch, and desperate survival in Squad Defense.

Verdun is a WW1 based First person shooter. Verdun was developed by M2H and Blackmill games, it was published by M2H. Verdun is quite similar to Battlefield 1, so BF 1 veterans would feel like home in this game, at first glance Verdun seems to be a cheaper edition of Battlefield 1, but there’s much more to it than that. ! Gameplay ! Verdun is a game where you play as a generic infantryman within a four-man squad, with multiple squads being present during the main game mode, Front lines. You get to choose from a set of historically accurate squads and there are four roles available within each squad. The combat is on par with similar games of this genre, reloading animations are quite nice to watch. Bullet drop is accurate and easy to get used to, and there exist a pretty decent and balanced damage calculation. The leader of your squad has the ability to call in support in the form of artillery, gas, and recon planes which could really come in handy when you cornered into a tough situation. The game offers five distinct game modes with many added features such as quite convincing world war 1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, quite realistic gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Front lines game mode features 64 players (which I assume is inspired by battlefields conquest game mode), taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing teams trench line. The game play is centered around fighting for dominance over multiple capture points surrounded by linear set of trenches through which you charge in order to hold your ground or charge the enemy. There are several maps to play on, each being highly detailed and different enough from each other to not feel boring and repetitive. There are upto 64 players in a lobby (32 vs 32), this game can feel absolutely massive and equally terrifying as you watch those around you get obliterated by machine gun and mortar being fired upon you, Suffocated by gas or are being Blown away by artillery shells. When there are open player slots, a bot will serve in their stead in order to maintain the number of players on both sides. The bots are competent enough in supportive roles, being good shots but not the most smart nor the best at traversing the terrain. Verdun also features the game modes such as Squad defense, Attrition and Rifles Death match. Squad Defense is a survival mode where you play against multiple waves of bots, while Attrition and Rifles Death match...

Verdun Review

Staff Review
The first realistic World War One shooter, Verdun perfectly captures the essence of frantic, devastating warfare with a glorious setting and a splendid Frontlines mode. Unusually for an online shooter, it's quite scary. It is a genuinely intense affair, and a breath of fresh air.
