Immerse yourself in Dragon's Dogma 2, a unique single-player action-RPG that offers a personalised gaming experience where you are the author of your own narrative. With advanced AI and state-of-the-art graphics, this sequel takes you on a grand adventure that expands upon the enthralling fantasy world of the original Dragon's Dogma. The game puts you in the shoes of the Arisen, and provides an opportunity to customise your character's vocation, appearance, and party. In this world, your decisions matter, influencing the way you approach situations and combat, thus making the gameplay experience truly your own. Throughout your journey, you'll be accompanied by Pawns, mysterious beings who enhance the immersion, making you feel part of a wider adventure even in your solitary quest.

The game allows you to shape your journey according to your preferences, starting from crafting the appearance and personality of your Arisen and Main Pawn. The sequel introduces the newly revealed Trickster vocation, adding another layer to the plethora of choices available for your character. This Arisen-exclusive vocation uses illusions to trick enemies and amplify the power of Pawns. The game also reintroduces the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations. Warriors excel in direct combat, making use of two-handed weapons, while Sorcerers wield powerful magick attacks that can turn the tide of battles. Your choices determine the course of your journey, creating a unique gaming experience that reflects your preferences and style.

Engage with Fierce Adversaries

The fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is inhabited by a diverse range of monsters, each with their unique abilities and challenges. The digital event provided a glimpse of such adversaries, including the imposing Talos, a bronze golem capable of causing massive destruction, the Dullahan, a headless spectre with a deadly curved blade, and the Drake, a formidable dragon with potent flame attacks. Your engagement with these foes will require strategic use of your Vocation, Pawns, and terrain, adding a thrill to your exploration of this fantasy world. This combat system, combined with the rich narrative and customization options, makes Dragon's Dogma 2 a compelling action-RPG where every decision shapes your unique experience.

Fun game. A lot of people are just lying about the game's issues. People are having performance issues, but no one who has actually played the game would call it buggy. The MTX seem more prevalent than they are based on the store page, but they're really not worth purchasing since the currency only applies to the Rift store, and the DLC are all one time use-one time purchase items. If you want to protest MTX by not playing the game, though, I consider that a valid reason to not purchase it. I personally think the game is worth $60 if you're not having performance issues.

Great fun to be had if you like to take your time

The game for me has been so much fun. Even after awhile you might get a bit tired of the same type of mobs but playing different vocations made it easier to forget. Exploring is fun if you take your time and not try to rush. Main story is serviceable but not really its strong point. It is more about you and the pawns and getting a great party to tackle whatever might be thrown at you randomly.

The negative reaction to this game was incredibly exaggerated, with much of it based on misinformation i.e. "boo hoo character creation and fast travel are locked behind microtransactions," (they ain't.) Everything in the store is easily obtainable in game, just like in the first game. The game itself is great, with my only issue with it being that the combat isn't as difficult or as balanced as the first game, but DD1 also needed some time post-release to be in the great state it's in today. There's also complaints about performance issues, but this isn't a problem I experience with my hardware. Your mileage may vary if your CPU isn't great. If any of that worries you, wait for the inevitable expansion and patches, and buy it together as a bundle. Or, upgrade your PC... Otherwise, if you liked the first game, there's really no reason not to like DD2. The combat is still super fun, the Pawns are hilarious, and the monsters are incredibly detailed and well animated. While the first game had some timeless tracks, I find myself enjoying the soundtrack of DD2 more overall. Save for the lack of a true Hard Mode, it's exactly what I was hoping for in a sequel/reboot, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them add difficulty options to the game later. I'm one of those who waited 12 years for the game and got it day one. And I don't regret the fun I've had with it at all.
