PGA TOUR 2K21

I’ve been playing this game every night since I got it. Fun and challenging play. I love the course design. The game plays great on my steamdeck.

This is a very well-balanced golfing game. Most games offer a wide variety of difficulty. That's nothing new. But in most games, there isn't much difference between modes. This game's difficulty truly ranges from "Very Easy" where you'll basically shoot birdies and Eagles on every hole to Legendary which is actually harder than golfing in real life. With 4 or 5 modes in between to explore and progress through, improving your swing timing along the way. I played the heck out of the Golf Club 2019 just before purchasing this game and there are two things I miss in 2K21. First, the green grid. I don't know what it is they changed about the grid in 2K21, but it seems less accurate to me. In The Golf Club 2019, I could read the grid like a book and sink 40+ foot putts with no problem. In 2K21, without the putt preview, I would rarely make the really long putts. However, this game did add the putt preview which was missing in The Golf Club 2019, and makes up for the difficult to read green-grid. The other thing they removed from this game is the Punch-Shot. Without it, if you slice or hook your ball under some trees, you might find yourself struggling to get out of the woods and back onto the fairway. All the shot options add so much height, your ball is bound to get slowed down by the foliage above you. However, they added a splash shot which was missing in The Golf Club 2019, making escape from green-side bunkers a helluva lot easier. So if you played The Golf Club 2019 and enjoyed it, know you've got a learning curve on the greens, but also an easier time escaping from the sand onto the greens. Here's the MOST IMPORTANT thing to say about this game: BACK. UP. YOUR. TOUR. SAVE. FILE. EVERY. TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! After playing for 155+ hours, I was working on the second-to-last tour rival. Just a few rounds away from the most time-consuming achievement in the game. That's when a storm knocked my power out. When the power came back on and I re-loaded the game, the save-file had been corrupted and I lost all of my rival progress and now have to do it all over again. Between The Golf Club 2019 & PGA2k21, I couldn't pick a favorite. They each have their flaws. And they each have their advantages. If you're looking for some challenging or relaxing golf, I highly recommend both.
