I've played P3P at least 4 times in my life and I've enjoyed every moment. It's arguably one of the best persona games ever and it's finally here on modern systems.

This game is great if you want to just listen to story without having to play and move your characters in a 3D fixed camera angles environment. However when you're in Tartarus or in one of the story events midnight hour places you take control of your character and it's not a visual novel anymore. I would have preferred FES and them taking the time to add the controllable party, and be able to choose what skills your new fused characters skill to inherit.

Best game, worth 90 hours 3 times over

I played Persona 3:FES over 10 years ago now and playing this game is an intense nostalgia run for me. This game really set the standard for dungeon crawling jrpgs going forward, completely defined the persona series by nailing down the tenants of the shin megami series and making them really approachable for a new audience. The story is so layered and the characters are developed so well over the course of the game. I put 90 hours into this game the first time I played it and now with being able to play the portable version, I can put in 2 more 90 hour runs for both protagonists. That's how much I love this game. Only 4/5 because the portable version of the game does put it through a graphical reduction where only the dungeon has 3d models and the animated cutscenes are now just slideshows. We've been deprived having the male protagonist put his hands in his pockets after idling for 5 seconds and then running around with his hands in his pockets like that. Otherwise, a near perfect game.

Not a great port or version, but a fantastic game despite these flaws. Definitely worth a play, even with Reload on the way (since Reload won't include FeMC)

This is my first introduction to the persona franchise, so far I'm enjoying my experience. The biggest twist is how these "kids" keep killing themselves each battle in order to make their inner repressed childhood trauma appear to fight the enemy for them, and therefore making them the biggest threat at school (?) I think I played the right game, def would play again.

The only reason for 4 stars is because of Atlus/SEGA's decision to adopt P3P instead of P3 FES. So, we have a version without animated cutscenes and without The Answer story arc (which Atlus considers canon!). Apart from that, it's the game you MUST play. Excellent game mechanics split between going to school and hanging with your friends and nighttime when you fight evil. Memorable characters, comedy, horror and everything that makes a cult classic JRPG.

Really good game. Subpar port.

The game is good. FES has better visuals but the gameplay in Portable is probably better in my opinion (mainly battles). The port though... is quite lazy. Compressed music, compressed sound effects and really ugly AI upscaled backgrounds. Which is a problem when the game is mostly a visual novel. It's entirely playable however, the FPS limit has been increased from 30 to 120 and most of the issues such as music quality can be fixed with mods. Don't listen to the port beggars crying that FES wasn't ported. If you want to play Persona 3 there is nothing wrong with playing Portable, both games are great experiences in their own way. This is probably the best way you can play the game without emulation.

this re-release is not the ps2 FES version with added content but the psp ver. that brings about its own quality of life updates and content. Still well worth the playthrough.
