About Split/Second

About this game

Split/Second is an intense action racing game set within a reality television show. Competitors will vie to be the first to the finish line in a made-for-TV city set rigged to blow with the ultimate goal of becoming the season champion. Players in Split/Second don’t just collide with other vehicles to knock them from the track, but can also trigger devastating events that drastically alter the dynamics of the race. Players must use pinpoint timing to obliterate huge structures and towering TV set pieces to tactically alter the track or create entirely new routes.

Game Features:
The City Is Your Weapon - Trigger explosive, devastating events lined throughout the track that drastically alter the dynamics of the race.
Every Lap Is Different - Use pinpoint timing to obliterate huge structures and towering TV set pieces to tactically alter the track or create entirely new routes.
Intense Multiplayer – Compete in a variety of game modes in 2-player split screen.

It's a fun game, and a bombastic twist on the racing game formula, but due to its age there's some pervasive jank (controller support is iffy, game is capped at 30fps and doesn't have much in the way of settings, prerendered cutscenes being a different resolution sometimes crashes the window, etc.). Once you're in a race, however, none of that matters too much. If you want to use a controller, which I do recommend, expect some trial and error making the controller layout.

I remember I always wanted to play game when I was young, but didn’t have the money to get it. It is totally worth the wait. Excellent game for its time.

If you love Motostorm Apocalypse and destruction this is the game for you.

Okay first impressions were amazing, the game features a ton of tracks, great and I mean GREAT destruction sequences. I loved the campaign, the cars. the speed, blowing up the buildings. Btw if you love Motostorm Apocalypse and destruction this is the game for you. Music is okay, it has some good soundtracks but nothing revolutionary... Driving feels a little stiff sometimes but its kay once you're used to it !

Fun with finicky controls.

Split Second was fun and enjoyable overall, but the controls were a bit difficult to come to grips with (although, that makes sense, considering it’s age).

Its still fun after all these years. It does look better on PC of course compared to consoles, the ONLY thing that stinks is the 30fps cap. Thats a tough one to get over. Still, its a really fun game!!!
