Surprisingly this game has a decent combination of persona school life with Ys slasher style gameplay. If you like japanese RPG it's definitely worth it.

I'm not much of a JRPG player. In fact, the main reason I got this game was simply because I've recently been going through a minor weeb phase and wanted to be fair by giving some JRPGs a try. However, when I finally got around to playing this game, my perceptions of the JRPG genre were shattered, I regretted not playing this sooner AND I've since become a fan of Nihon Falcom's style to the point where I've begun collecting their games slowly.
That's all to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by this game. Whenever I'd ask people for a good starter JRPG, this was one of the first recommendations due to its action combat. I'm not a fan of turn-based combat in ANY game and from my very limited experience with JRPGs in the past, I figured all of them were turn-based as a general trait of the genre. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. This was the PERFECT game to get me into the JRPG genre. Its combat is well-designed and thoroughly FUN. Its story/world building are fantastic (as is a trait with Falcom, as far as I've heard). Its characters are well-written and likable and even the translation is fantastic. Furthermore, the gameplay outside of combat appeals to people that enjoy games with social gameplay with NPCs.
When I'm not rolling through atmospheric dungeons slaughtering greeds (basically Lovecraftian demon-like entities), I'm hanging out at the Morimiya Academy library reading up on the world or I'm hanging out with the friends and classmates of the protagonist (Kou Tokisaka). Wandering the numerous, semi-open maps talking to people is enjoyable because of the dialogue and writing. Very rarely do you encounter an NPC that has generic, small talk-style dialog. Instead, you'll run into everything from remarks that add to the world building to tiny mini-quests that can help improve your characters' build. I was particularly stricken by an encounter I had with a grandfather and his granddaughter who were waiting for the bus. I had the opportunity to have Kou explain some tech concepts to the girl, thus helping the relatively tech illiterate grandfather. It was a nice, wholesome moment that took me by surprise. On top of that, you develop friendships with your party members as well, as you essentially begin forming an elite team of warriors that can help protect Morimiya from the threat of the greeds.
The aforementioned world building is undoubtedly the game's strongest point, however. Right from the start, the game gives you information on...

A good game, but in the game design is not very innovative. If you have more time to recommend playing this game. There may be elements of the game that feel familiar to you.

Absolutely fantastic game. It is on of those JRPG's that don't sell themselves by the title card but gameplay and story wise it is excellent.

Basic action RPG from the people who made the Ys series. They did a great job.

Pretty solid JRPG, not life-shattering like the big names but a pleasant surprise.
