A great Lovecraft adaptation within a technically unimpressive game. A must play for horror fans

Probably the best HP Lovecraft game I've played (atmosphere and storyline). The gameplay is unfortunately not the best and check pcgaming wiki for fixes and patches to get the game running. Once it runs, it drips atmosphere and immersion into its dark storyline. This is not a direct adaptation of a lovecraft book but a combination of 2 stories, "The Shadow over Innsmouth" and "The Shadow out of Time" Gameplay is FPS combined with detective work for solving puzzles. It also features a unique damage system where if you hurt your leg with a high fall, your bone will be broken, You will limp and hear the bones cracking with each step until you heal yourself. Unfortunately some gamebreaking bugs can appear, so save often and backup your save game

This game has some of the best atmosphere ever created in a horror title, and it's main chase sequence will go down in history as one of the scariest ever game experiences

A genuine unerappreciated gem, CoC:DCOTE remains one of the most faithful adaptations to video game of Lovecrafts work, and can still surprise and unnerve to this day. That said, it does feel rather uneven, with the back half of the game somewhat less impressive than the front half, but it's still an enjoyable, noiry romp through Innsmouth worth your time.

The game was dated but fantastic. I watched a playthrough on YouTube when I was younger and always wanted to play it and now I can whenever I want.
